Background and Activities

Ingenieurbüro Bayer DSP Solutions was founded more than a decade ago by Andreas Bayer, a first hour DSP specialist. The company provides consulting and contract development services to customers around the world.
Originally specialising in the telecommunication field, the company has grown its DSP expertise to provide fullspan services around Digital Signal Processing applications by using DSP chips from Analog Devices, NEC, Texas Instruments, Motorola and other renowned DSP vendors. Our longstanding links and close co-operation with these silicon vendors ensures your project gets optimal support in every respect. Our staff consists of highly qualified and experienced hardware and software engineers, who are ably assisted by university graduates and university students.

History

This is a list of important milestones of the company’s history (selection only):

* 1995/96: Telecom algorithms and evaluation platforms for NEC digital signal processors
* 1997: Portable music player, for playback and recording sounds to multimedia cards (MMC) similar to today’s MP3 devices. The product was based on Analog Devices ADSP-218x and H8/300 micro-controllers from Hitachi.
* 1997/98: PCI Laser-marking controller based on SHARC (ADSP-21061)
* 1998: DSP software for various ISDN-PBXs using DSPs from NEC (µPD7701x) and Texas Instruments (TMS320VC5402)
* 1999: PCI DSP card for voice compression (G.728/G.729A) in VoIP applications based on ADSP-218x
* 2000: Speech codec for Traffic Information Manager on a DSP56000 Core
* 2001: Professional sound level meter based on TMS320VC33
* 2002: Message management and call-forwarding system for PBXs allowing software updates via the internet based on TMS320C54CST
* 2003: Voice/Fax encryption system for simple-to-use secure communication based on TMS320VC54xx
* 2003/04: Products for streaming MP3 sound via modem, ISDN and TV networks based on TMS320VC54xx
* 2004: Optical larynx diagnostics system for ENT (medical) applications based on TMS320VC33 and Xilinx FPGA
* 2005: Data acquisition front-end for a Voyage Data Recorder (VDR) on cargo ship based on a Blackfin processor
* 2006: Various industrial control and measurement systems based on TMS320C67xx and Hammerhead SHARC, some also employing ARM7 and FPGA
* 2007: IF processing unit for a wireless, mid-range communication unit, based on ADSP-21368 and Spartan3 FPGA
* 2008: Camera interface for a forgery-proof printing and verification system, based on Blackfin and Spartan3
* 2009: DTLE Radio Link, a long-haul wireless communication solution

Derived from past projects, we have implemented a number of telecom and speech algorithms, mainly ITU and ETSI standard which are now available as products for integration into DSP and microcontroller based platforms, such as TMS320C5000 and TMS320C6000, Blackfin, ARM7 etc.
